About Marianna

Marianna Poutasse has spent her career seeking out beautiful, well-made things and warm, inviting and evocative spaces. After early internships at historic house museums and several years in the editorial department of House & Garden Magazine, Marianna formalized her understanding of the history of design with a master’s degree at the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts in New York. With her solid understanding of good design - whether it be in the form of an 18th century Sheraton chair or a quintessentially sleek 1950s sofa - Marianna brings honed skills for scouting out antiques and vintage finds that are easily repurposed and right at home in today's more relaxed, comfortable living spaces.

Prior to launching The Curated Home, Marianna spent a decade as an associate designer with Alberti Design Studio in Seekonk, MA , specializing in residential interiors for clients in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. She has also served as an independent consultant and curator, specializing in design and social history, material culture studies and antiques, and is the author of Power of Place: Herman Melville and the Berkshires (2013).

In her free time, Marianna serves on the board of the Berkshire Immigrant Center, is a veteran 22 year cycling instructor at Bousquet Sport in Pittsfield, and can often be found out on the trails with her two dogs. And perhaps not surprisingly, she finds great joy in hosting and entertaining family and friends at her family home in Pittsfield.
